Join professional photographers Serena Pearce from Perth’s Code Lime Photography and Andrew Thomasson from Focus 10 Photography in Sydney for a 2.5 days of a fascinating and insightful journey into outback adventure photography. Our hands-on, casual, practical style will make this an experience to remember that is packed with fun in a relaxed environment where you will learn to take great images you can treasure forever!
Timed to coincide with the start of the region’s premium Kalgoorlie Race Round and Western Australia's wildflower season, this tour will also include photographing the characters and cowboys at the Kalgoorlie Rodeo, Anthony Gormleys iconic iron statues on the saltpans of Lake Ballard, sunset at historic Gwalia which has been left as it was abandoned in 1963, morning photography at the rocky outcrops of The Terraces and the “living ghost town” of Kookynie and afternoon beverages at the famous Broad Arrow Hotel... famous for its proliferation of graffiti in the form of signature tags covering every inch of this colourful corrugated building.
The tour will also include photographic tutorials and workshops focused around many of the heritage and architectural sites Kalgoorlie-Boulder has to offer such as sunset overlooking the Superpit and natural, low light photography at the recently refurbished Boulder Town Hall and the beautiful Palace Hotel, the huge Poppet Mining Heads that provide impressive silhouettes against the skyline, studio portraiture at the arty Fossick Gallery and shooting sport and action at the Rodeo and Boulder Cup.
Our tour commences 2.5 days before the week long Kalgoorlie Race Round so why not take the opportunity to stay longer and enjoy everything this annual event that has been running since 1896 has to offer - bush two-up, Ladies Day at the races, Ora Banda and Coolgardie festivals, comedy and all the history this great place exudes.
