Course 1
Introduction
Course 1 introduction program is the first in the sequence of programs offered on a part time evening basis by the institute. Classes are held 1 evening per week for 5 weeks. Classes run between 6:30pm - 9:30pm at our professional photographic studios.
In this program participants will be introduced to the physical equipment used in DSLR photography, how to operate their camera system manually and explore the benefits of their investment is a digital SLR camera.
Participants will undertake lessons in lens focal length and characteristics, exposure techniques, ISO Aperture and Shutter Speed, camera functions, menus and histograms.
The participant will be introduced to natural light, its characteristics and how light is used in combination with their camera, lenses and recording systems to create well exposed and sharp images.
Course 1 is essential for beginners and ideal for participants wanting to learn about their cameras and the introduction of photography.
Course 1 is a pre requisite requirement for Course 2.

Week One: Introducing the camera, functions, menu and exposure
Week Two: ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed – working in manual
Week Three: Lenses and Lens characteristics
Week Four: Metering techniques
Week Five: Practical Class & Review

Enrollments are limited to 10 students per class and students have access through our online learning system to submit ongoing work for feedback outside their scheduled class time.
The institute is an affiliate of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and all our lecturers are practicing commercial professionals.
