Course Overview:
Do you often leave your camera on Auto mode? Not sure what aperture does, or how to control it to make your subjects stand out crisply against a beautifully blurry background? Interested to learn more about wildlife photography or portrait photography? Do friends yawn when you bring out your photos? Wish you could really capture the moment or mood in a striking, professional photo? Troubles with tricky lighting situations? Not sure what makes a good photo great? What's a histogram anyway, and what lenses should I get?
Even if you're a total beginner having just unwrapped your camera, right through to a keen enthusiast photographer looking to get serious, then this photography course is aimed right at you! Covering everything from basic composition through to depth of field, lighting, lenses and pro tips, these 9 hour, friendly small-group workshops are held at stunning zoo and other function centres around Australia, combining a great balance of practical and theory sessions including one-on-one time with Canon's Australian Ambassador and Australian Geographic photographer Chris Bray, amidst wonderfully diverse and inspiring test subjects, not to mention the $600 worth of prizes (including an external flash, and a Lowepro camera bag!) at the end of each day after you get sent 'on assignment' and the delicious catering! Chris also brings with him a swag of lenses, everything from ultra-wide fisheye lenses, macro lenses and super telephoto lenses that you're very welcome to try if you'd like (if they fit your camera).
Everyone also gets a complete set of lecture slides in a booklet, to save you feeling that you have to madly try and write everything down during the day like many courses! You'll also get a little set of summary 'cheat cards' that you can clip to your camera to remind you the important things.

Don't have a digital camera or tripod? No worries - you can borrow a brand new Canon EOS 450D digital SLR and tripod from us for the day, for free! Australian Geographic members get $50 off course price!
